Your first canvas
This tour walks you from an empty workspace to a live, collaborative canvas with cards, a document, a comment, and the AI agent. Each step links to a deeper guide.
1. Open a workspace or board
Sign in and pick where you want to work — a Trello org, a Jira site, or a native Cardscape workspace. In Trello and Jira you'll also choose a board (a Trello board or a Jira project); native workspaces hold canvases directly. See Core concepts for how these fit together.
2. Create a canvas
Create a new canvas to open the editor — an infinite drawing surface. Sketch, add shapes, drop in text, and arrange freely.
3. Invite others
Canvases are real-time. Anyone with access to the same workspace who opens the canvas sees your changes as you make them — cursors, selections, and edits sync live. See Real-time collaboration.
4. Drop in a live card
Open the card picker and add a card from your board to the canvas. It renders as a live embed that stays in sync with the tracker, and you can open its details or edit it in place. See Placing cards.
5. Attach a document or leave a comment
- Documents — attach a markdown or MDX document to any element to capture notes, specs, or context. See Documents.
- Comments — pin a threaded comment to a spot on the canvas to start a discussion. See Comments.
6. Ask the AI agent
Open the agent panel and ask it to help. The AI agent chats with you and can draw on the canvas itself — creating diagrams, placing cards, and more — while you watch. See The AI agent.
