Attaching a card to any element

Beyond standalone card embeds, you can attach a card to any element on the canvas — a shape, a drawing, or a frame. This links your work item to something you've already drawn.

Attach and use a card​

When a card is attached to an element:

  • A small card badge appears on the element.
  • Click the badge to open the card's detail modal.
  • Hover the badge to reveal an × that detaches the card.

Placed cards vs. attached cards​

These are two different ways to bring a card onto a canvas:

  • A placed card is itself a live card embed — its own element that shows the card's real name, labels, and state. See Placing cards on a canvas.
  • An attached card decorates an existing element with a link to a card. The element stays whatever you drew; the card rides along as a badge.

Use a placed card when the card is the thing on your canvas. Use an attached card when you want an existing shape or frame to point at a work item.
